 Dolls by Jax

Dolls from 2009

 Saraswati by Jax

Saraswati turned out to be an extensive beading project.
She is completely
bejeweled so I taught myself the right angle weave
for beading to make her necklace and belt.
Her crown is lace trim I reshaped and beaded.
She has glass eyes which are a little like teddy bear eyes.
They allowed for a good pull through her head
which shaped the face really nicely.

Sitting in her pond on her Lotus flower
she is 21" tall and 13" wide and 12" deep
.

$1900.00

Saraswati

Saraswati sits serenely in her lotus pond contemplating her next song. As a Goddess of creativity she carries the Book of Knowledge in one hand and a set of Mala beads in another, showing us that creativity comes from knowledge and discipline.
She is commonly shown with four arms representing mind, intellect, awareness and ego, four aspects of the human personality. She wears white to show that she is founded in the experience of the Absolute Truth, which expresses itself during the creative act.

Saraswati's sitar is paperclay which John made for me that I then painted, strung and beaded. Her Book of Knowledge is the old style accordion book that opens up to reveal the fool's journey as rendered by Jessica Clayman in her self published Fabrication Tarot. It is covered with handmade paper that was gifted to me a while ago. The Swan is a little stuffy I made with a felted beak and beaded eyes.
The Swan's Bindi dot was the last touch

Libuse by Jax

Libuse

 Mother of the Czech Nation

Libuse was a Princess with the gift of prophecy. She was the first Queen of Prague and could see into the future and the past. She could always see the truth so became a great Judge for her people.

Here we see Libuse in the throws of vision. She is said to have prophesied the site for the city of Prague as well as also married a man that she saw in a vision. He was Premysl a ploughman. Together they founded the Premyslid Dynasty that ruled Prague for the next 400 years.

Libuse is my first free standing doll.
